Price Controls on Staples

In Belo Horizonte, the city placed price controls on staples like beans, rice, milk, sugar, some meats and basic vegetables. These staples are sold at 2/3 of their cost to economically strapped people, making it possible for them to have enough money to buy the basics.

The food is delivered to the impoverished sections of the city by a Market Bus, which is like a city bus that has been transformed into portable grocery store.

Ideas of how we could get involved:
--Investigate our area to see if there are local stores like Aldi and the Compare & Save store at Parkway Shopping Center that already offer low enough prices on staples (who would we talk to for this information?)
-- Are there stores close enough for the hungry to access them without transportation? Where do the people shop who live in Waughtown and behind FTCC?
--Talk with city officials to investigate the possibility of creating a Market Bus for our area
