The grounds committee has initially turned down our proposal for a community garden. They have not, however, heard any of the details of our proposal. We are requesting their concerns and will address them at their next meeting, which is January 21st. In the meantime, I'd like for each of you to prayerfully consider how and if you can commit to working on this community garden.
Our class met on 1/3/10 and decided to request just one raised bed at the church instead of four. There are also several individuals who plan to put a raised bed in their own yards to give to the people of El Buen Pastor Church in Old Town.
Please read the December posts to find out the details of this project and to see where and if you would like to help. Please post your commitment requests for specific committees so we can all get an idea of where this project stands. Thanks!
Also, please post if you can be a part of the Spring Garden Care team on the Adoption Bed post. If we all can be a part of this team, you'll probably only have one week as a gardener for one 4' x 12' bed.
Please post by the weekend before our 1/21 meeting so that we'll know if we have enough support to have the raised bed here at Knollwood. We'll need four families and/or individuals to adopt that bed, and we'll need to have a backup plan in case those individuals cannot follow through with their commitment.
